Open studio

Open Studio has fast become a key site for on-going learning and services: This bi-weekly after-school and weekend for at risk youth and children with disabilities is designed to encourage thinking and cultivate creative capacity in a collaborative, supportive environment. The program also builds on school curriculums by using art to develop life skills and improve learning outcomes. The space is ‘open’ in the sense that there is an open invitation extended to children to join the space, and engage with a consistent stream of senior Lefika Community Art Counsellors, artists, students, volunteers and interns who are actively participating in the Open Studio for on-site learning and group facilitation. The Open Studio also extends into holiday periods, which provides a continuum of support over these periods
