Kamal Naran

Kamal Naran is an Artist, Community Art Counsellor and Mindful Art Facilitator. He attended The University of Pretoria, obtained his BA Honours Degree in Fine Arts, specializing in painting. He attended Lefika La Phodiso – Community Art Counselling & Training Institute, where he did the Community Art Counselling training course in 2012, graduating in March 2013 and has been with Lefika ever since. He has done counselling courses with Johannesburg Parent and Child Counselling Center (JPCCC) and Intec College. He further studied Psychology through UNISA and is currently studying his Honours in Art Therapy through the University of Johannesburg. Kamal has a passion for training and running Community Art Counselling groups. He has facilitated a number of Art Counselling groups including Uhambo the creative literacy group, Open studio groups, Holocaust survivors’ group, teachers groups and holiday programme. He has been running the Teen_Connect Holiday Programme (in partnership with the Wits Art Museum) for the past few years and has conceptualised and runs Lefika’s Volunteer Training programme.  Kamal works at Lefika La Phodiso as a Senior Community Art Counsellor and trainer and their volunteer, social media and programme manager.
