Join us for an online reflective workshop series where we explore the elements through art and music. This workshop will be facilitated by DJ Lola/Anita van der Merwe, who will also provide the musical backdrop for this exploration, and drama therapist Rozanne Myburgh.
The Art of Water
“Water is fluid, soft and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong. – Lao Tzu”
Join us for the third workshop in the Exploring the Elements series, The Art of Water, to connect with your flow and to explore connection, receptivity, surrender, nourishment, feelings and adaptability. In this discovery you will have an opportunity to reflect on some questions, two of which are: In which areas of your life do you need more fluidity? What do you need to let go of to allow what wants to emerge?
We will use the medium of art-making as it is about play, discovery, curiosity, engaging lightly but with full presence in the moment – so we don’t have to take ourselves too seriously as we engage with these poignant reflections.
Date: Sunday, 11 October, 14:00-16:00
Place: Zoom/your home
Price: Suggested donation is R200 – R400

How it works
Gather all the art materials you can find at home. Set aside a space where you can work comfortably and, most importantly, undisturbed for two hours. We will start with a welcome and introductions. This will be followed by a guided meditation to connect with our bodies, open our hearts and feel the connection in the group. Thereafter, the invitation is to creatively engage in art-making for an hour to a curated set of music. The art-making is non-directive, meaning you can use the music as inspiration and create what you want, in the way you want. Our focus is on the process and the exploration, not the end product. We will then come back together as a group to reflect on the process and to share, should we choose to.
No previous arts experience is necessary for this workshop.
