A series of workshops entitled ‘Exploring the elements’ advertised by Lefika sounded so intriguing. I work with clay in large part due to its elemental nature. Clay is earth, it is wet, like mud, you have to wedge the air out of the clay before you can create your forms, your form is then dried by the air and then in the kiln, fire transmutes clay to ceramic. Working with the elements is transformative – the elements transform and I am transformed in the process. The first elements workshop – the art of earth – didn’t disappoint. It was a delicately held sound journey facilitated by Anita and Rozanne. As I listened to the music and held my lump of clay, gestural pieces sprung from my hands. I felt as if I was dancing with the clay. It was a transformative experience. I can’t wait to submerge myself in the next workshop in September – the art of fire.

I joined this workshop out of curiosity, and I was pleasantly surprised at how beneficial I found it to be. It was so nice to find creative expression and a spark of enjoyment in these particularly morbid times. I can wholeheartedly recommend this workshop, and I am looking forward to experiencing the rest of the elemental series. Thank you very much Rozanne, and Anita for a lovely earthly experience!

An interesting workshop using dialogue, dance and art that allows one to get in touch with a deeper level of self.

The experienced facilitators at this Lefika workshop offered a warm and encouraging environment in which to explore the themes. If you’ve ever doubted the benefits of an online creative workshop I encourage you to put those doubts aside. The workshop I attended reached such a creative depth and felt as rich and connected as if we had all met in person.

Thank you, Rozanne and Anita, what a truly lovely safe space you both created. Your playlist was gorgeous and gave me the ability to transport myself to a happier place that I long for and miss terribly especially in this uncertain time. I could sleep for the first time in months. I felt rested and refreshed after your sacred space Art of dreaming workshop. Thank you 🙏🏻🦋

The Art of Earth Workshop was sensitively held with an evocative and resonant soundscape that was beautifully curated. The moving meditation, sound and space to work with materials all supported this valuable experience. This series of workshops offer essential self-care, while simultaneously contributing to the essential work of Lefika to provide physical and soul nourishment to the inner-city community during COVID. Thank you Rozanne and Anita.

This workshop was exactly what our team needed to end the year. Perfectly pitched, meaningful and fully aligned with what we had discussed as the goal for the session, I highly commend the two facilitators for their work. The team building and strategic alignment benefits of this work is most appreciated.

The Art of the Earth workshop was beneficial to me as a way of exploring questions surrounding themes of authenticity, showing up as the real me, being fully present and grounded.
A safe space was created where we were able to share, surrounded by encouragement and acceptance.1 response

Everything has a purpose in life. Even those we think are at their end can be repurposed to something living, beautiful and alive.

I was a bit tired when I came in. However, I was revived when I listened to Sandra’s teachings and how she is enthusiastic about art. I learnt a lot about the scrap we can use, the products we can make. Sandra’s enthusiasm about art is catchy. She is passionate and reminds me of my own passion, while doing my classes. Rozanne is very welcoming, smiling and helpful. Overall I enjoyed the lesson and wish to come for a mosaic lesson.
